ConnectNet’s products are typically used to provide connectivity to Point Of Sale (POS) terminals for credit and debit card authorisations, cheque verification, prepaid electricity, prepaid airtime, micro-lending, bulk SMS applications, healthcare verifications, ATM’s, telemetry, vending, interactive kiosks and other markets requiring “transaction type” data communications.
The Mobile Router is ideal for customers with larger data transmission requirements and can also be utilised to backup existing IP or Internet links. The Mobile Router will monitor the existing IP link and in the event of a failure, will automatically dial up and re-establish the connectivity to the Internet via HSDPA/Edge. On switch over, the Mobile Router can be configured to send the customer an SMS notifying them of the main link failure. Once the main link is restored, the Mobile Router will automatically reroute date via the primary link.
Retail (POS) - for quick, cost effective card and cheque authorisations
ConnectNet’s devicess are widely used by retailers where it is ideal for linking point-of-sale (POS) card terminals to the banks. The main advantages are the speed with which online credit and debit card transactions are finalised, cost savings through affordable fixed monthly charges, reliability of the Multi-SIM devices and after sales service and support. The service is available where Vodacom and/or MTN have network coverage.
With a continuous rise in on-line transactions for card payments and prepaid services retailers are coming under increased pressure to speedily process purchases at their tills in order to provide satisfactory service to customers. ConnectNet’s devices assist in speeding up this process and saving the merchant on call charges.
Healthcare/Pharmacies – for prescription and medical aid verification
ConnectNet's devices are commonly used in pharmacies and the healthcare industry for online prescription and medical aid verification. These types of transactions are increasingly processed in real-time and efficient on-line connectivity is required. Traditional dial-up is slow and is very expensive because every authorisation/verification requires a telephone call for processing.
Pharmacies experience significant cost savings and increased reliability through the use of ConnectNet’s devices as multiple terminals can be accommodated on a single ConnectNet device, each with independent connections to destination host computers.
Automatic Teller Machines (ATM’s)
ConnectNet devices are widely used as a communications link for ATM’s to the banks. The number of ATM’s deployed in South Africa has increased dramatically over the last number of years with an increasing number of third party providers having entered the market. ATM’s are now commonly found at service stations and franchise retailers.
ConnectNet’s devices are well suited to connecting these ATM’s to the banks, even in remote areas. Once again ConnectNet’s remote management software and help-desk capabilities are advantageous to ensure reliability of service.
Telemetry
ConnectNet’s devices are ideal for the transmission of critical and/or non-critical information for remote monitoring and metering applications and often serves as an early warning system that conditions are deteriorating at a certain site. With bi-directional links now being readily available certain actions at the site can now be activated and controlled remotely and sites can be interrogated whenever required.
Micro-lending
ConnectNet devices are extensively used in the micro-lending industry to link their systems to the banks and various other databases. Typical transactions require PIN verification and storing of post dated transactions. At the same time identity numbers are cross checked against other databases to eliminate multiple lending to an individual.
Security
Although not ideal for CCTV applications because of the amount of data being transmitted ConnectNet’s devices are used to provide bi-directional communications for certain alarm systems.
Data Transfer
ConnectNet’s GSM Data Service can be used to do limited file transfers between two or more sites as connectivity between devices is possible.
SMS
