Mobile Router & Mobile Gateway

The ConnectNet Mobile Router and Mobile Gateway are the ideal solution to connect remote IP applications to corporate networks or to the Internet utilising the wireless GSM data (HSUPA/EDGE/GPRS) networks. The Mobile Router/Gateway provides high speed, secure and reliable data access via the GSM Data Networks using ConnectNet's private APNs. The interface used to interface to our Mobile Router/Gateways is via Ethernet.

The ConnectNet Mobile Router is locally designed and manufactured. The Router is issued with 2 SIMs and the router will automatically switch between these 2 networks in the event that the router is unable to maintain connection with the servers. This process is totally transparent to the end user.

Management

• A connection is established and maintained to a Connectnet server. Regular polls from the router record data usage and signal strength. Network switchovers are also logged.
• The router monitors the radio connection to the GSM operator tower as well as the IP connectivity to the server. Failure of either will cause the mobile router to switch to the alternate network. Switch back will occur within 30 minutes once the primary network has been restored.
• The mobile router may be configured to raise alarms to the user via SMS and/or email in the event of network failure or switch-over.
• The Mobile Router/Gateway are allocated fixed IP addressing allowing remote connectivty thereto, irrespective of which network it is connected to. This enables complete remote management of the router. Logs can also be examined on the router to determine causes of problems.
• Remote software upgrades using FTP.
• Data usage is monitored and thresholds are set per Mobile Router/Gateway. Once exceeded, an alarm is raised via email. This prevents excessive data bills in any given month
• Performance reports may be extracted for any router. If required, customers can manage their own Mobile Router/Gateways.

Network Coverage

• The service is available wherever Vodacom, MTN and Telkom (WCDMA) have network coverage within South Africa. The ConnectNet service is also available in Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Nigeria and in the Ukraine.

Additional Information

• Standard Installations: R350.00 per Mobile Router
• An Activation Fee of R 120.00 is payable per G-Pad (once off).
• Data exceeding 50MB bundle will be charged at R1.00 per MB or part thereof.
• Monthly subscriptions are payable in advance
• VPNs typically use up 30 MB of data per month. This data is part of the 50MB bundle.
• Monthly invoices and statements will be delivered electronically via e-mail
• Payment by debit order
• Customized tariff options may be negotiated
• ConnectNet reserves the right to adjust tariffs annually and extends this right to adjust tariffs should the cellular network operators adjust their tariffs
• All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT and are per Device
